About Sierra
Hi, I’m Sierra! I’m a self-taught gardener, professionally trained cook, and aspiring homesteader who is obsessed with homemade bread, and sunflowers. Here’s a bit more of my story.
More about me.
My journey started young, watching the Food Network and spending every waking moment watching cooking shows. I was obsessed with cooking like Giada and Ina and dreamed of hosting my own cooking show. My curiosity and passion led me to attend Culinary School in California and then Colorado. After returning home to Minnesota, I was unsure where I belonged in the industry, and at that moment is when gardening found its way into my life.
I always loved the outdoors as a kid and enjoyed helping my neighbors water, weed, and plant their gardens but my love for vegetable gardens didn’t really start until later. In 2020 I found myself stuck at home with nothing to do and out of pure boredom, a crazy passion for gardening took hold. In what seemed like an endless search for inspiration and joy, I found gardeners, chefs, and homemakers in all different stages of life, motivating me to keep going forward and create something beautiful with what I had. So I did.
Gardening was my missing piece. My curiosity led me to transform my parent’s backyard into my dream urban vegetable garden. One project led to another, and I had built a fence, arched trellises, and tons of produce right in my own backyard. I didn’t need to have tons of acreage and live in the country to create something that was productive and beautiful. I did it with what I had, right where I was. Every day was filled with fresh produce and tasty meals I had grown myself. I was instantly hooked!
I want to encourage everyone to experience growing, harvesting, and cooking with fresh food wherever and whatever that looks like for YOU, and reap the incredible benefits. You don’t need a big backyard and experience to bring beauty to your life. I am truly excited to share my knowledge and passions and hope you will join me in learning, growing, and eating together.
